SMART PARTICIPATES IN A RED CROSS SHELTER SIMULATION!
Saturday, Nov 6, 2010

Norwood, MA. The exercise was part of the "Ready When The Time Comes" program. This is a workplace
program in which the Red Cross trains employees of local businesses who can then be mobilized as a
community-based volunteer force when disaster strikes.

6 stations were set up where volunteers learned and did some hands-on training in different aspects of
establishing a shelter. SMART was one of the stations. Our volunteers demonstrated the pet intake
procedure, and pet shelter set-up. Live animals were sheltered, including a very cute little pig named
Lucy.

The exercise was a great learning experience for all of us. We are excited to be partnering with Red
Cross, and we appreciate their support!
